Here, Paavo and Jono talk about how they all hooked up, how they work together, their current projects, and how they choose tracks to sign to their own super-successful label, Ajunabeats. The three fully-fledged musicians and songwriters, Tony McGuinness, Paavo Siljamaki and Jono Grant, formed Above & Beyond back in 2000, and have shaken the very foundations of the dance/trance scene ever since with their euphoric and emotive productions and DJ/live sets.

Antwerp’s adventurous DJ Prinz presents Night Guide, showing us what’s hot ‘n’ happening, according to his clubbing barometer. In this clip, the ever-colourful Prinz talks to DJsounds as he performs at a classics night, held at La Rocca. Subjects under discussion range from house and techno, to the history of partying at Café d’Anvers, to clubs H2O and Cosmos, and the evolving party scene in Ghent.

REVIEW: Hercules DJ Control MP3 e2

Still time for reviews to be slipped in this year, and this is for one of the smallest and cheapest units on the scene. The not at all snappily named Hercules DJ Control MP3 e2 is the diddiest controller I’ve played with, and at £99 is also one of the cheapest too. Approaching it for review as an experienced DJ brought up a unique set of issues, but undaunted I scaled down my expectations and wrote lots of words.

Next Generation DJ Competition

Pioneer, Beatport, DJ Magazine and Let’s Mix have come together to launch ‘Next Generation DJ’ (NGDJ), a talent competition designed to unearth the next superstar DJ and to give him or her the chance to win a life changing prize! To win, DJs with the X-Factor will have to demonstrate their skills through several stages of the competition here on letsmix.com. We will be looking for creative music compilation and mixing skills as well as entrepreneurial drive. Anyone can join, either if you do your mixing on Turntables, CDJ’s, Mixing or Production Software, just record a mix and upload you mix on letsmix.com.
